SERIES
Star City S1
29 May 2026 – Apple TV
Ron Moore’s For All Mankind was arguably the show that announced Apple TV as a serious contender in the premium streaming service arena. And given it’s intriguing premise, it’s easy to see why: An alt-history version of the Space Race where Russia beat the USA to be the first to put a man on the moon, prompting the USA to just escalate its efforts rather than ease back. Across five seasons taking place from the 1960s to the 2010s, viewers watched those efforts result in drama, heartbreak, and victories, and ultimately leading to Mars itself. But now, as For All Mankind has wrapped up, we are going to back to where it all started… with a twist. Billed as a “paranoid thriller”, Star City is the brand-new spinoff/prequel that takes us back in time and switches sides, as we discover just how the Soviet Union beat the Americans to the Moon. The show goes behind the Iron Curtain, howing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humankind forward.
The Four Seasons S2
29 June 2026 – Netflix
About as far removed as an alternate history space race thriller as you can get, The Four Seasons is back! Co-created and starring Tina Fey, the first season of the dramedy introduced us to three married couples, all the best of friends despite coming from very different backgrounds, with a tradition of vacationing together four times a year. But their relationships get put to the test when certain personal truths are revealed while on holiday. The second season picks up in the wake of all that personal drama, as the group carries on its vacationing tradition… but now with a baby in tow. This time Kate (Fey), Jack (Will Forte), Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), Danny (Colman Domingo), Claude (Marco Calvani), and Ginny (Erika Henningsen) journey from the familiar comforts of the Jersey shore and upstate New York to the stunning landscapes of Italy. With a combination of warmth, wit, grief and the simple power of lifelong friendships, will the friends discover their own version of “la dolce vita”?
Not Suitable for Work S1
2 June 2026 – Disney+
If you’re a hungry and ambitious young person, eagerly looking to leave your mark on the working world while also struggling to find time for personal happiness, then Not Suitable for Work may just be for you. Created by Mindy Kaling, this new comedy follows series five work-obsessed twenty-somethings in Manhattan who strive for professional success in their respective fields, dealing with all the social pitfalls that abound in a modern workplace. And when that professional space overlaps with some personal affections, things get even more complicated.
Michael Jackson: The Verdict
3 June 2026 – Netflix
Despite its box office success, critical consensus on Antoine Fuqua’s recent Michael Jackson biopic has not been kind, with many of the film’s detractors pointing out how it glosses over some of the thornier bits of the late King of Pop’s life. The most noteworthy example of this is the film ending before and not even acknowledging the lengthy legal battle that ensued in 2003 when Jackson – arguably the most famous figure in pop culture of all time – was charged with multiple counts of child molestation. What ensued was one of the most closely watched courtroom sagas we’ve ever had, and even when Jackson was ultimately acquitted of all charges, the result just stoked even more media frenzy that continued until the singer’s untimely death in 2009 and beyond. And now, clearly timing this to strike while Jackson has once again entered the cultural zeitgeist thanks that aforementioned biopic, Netflix is revisiting that hotly contested case with Michael Jackson: The Verdict. The three-part docuseries dissects the case again, from the perspectives of both the prosecution and the defense, as it features key individuals who were inside the courtroom, including jurors, eyewitnesses, and accusers and defenders alike.
Clarkson’s Farm S5
3 June 2026 – Prime Video
The world’s unlikeliest farmer is back! The fourth season of the hugely popular Clarkson’s Farm was a bit of a downer, not because the series was bad but because star Jeremy Clarkson and his Diddly Squat farm really had a terrible run of luck resulting in several setbacks. Now a new season is upon us though, so will things take a turn for the better? Well, not if the British government has anything to do with it as a national budget announcement sends the UK farming community into uproar, prompting Jeremy to make some drastic and creative changes. And if you’ve followed Clarkson’s much publicized career through his tenure on Top Gear and The Grand Tour, you’ll know that whenever he gets a big idea, the results are often equal parts hilarious and calamitous! And that’s not even touching on the fact that some of Jeremy’s decisions will result in Kaleb, the very un-worldwise local farmer who has become the breakout star of the show, taking his very first international trip!
MOVIES
Propeller One-Way Night Coach
29 May 2026 – Apple TV+
You may have seen John Travolta in the news lately for “debuting a new face”. Yes, you read that correctly. While the 72-year-old veteran actor’s updated looks may have been what was grabbing all the headlines, he was actually out at Cannes Festival promoting his feature film directorial debut. Adapted from his own 1997 children’s book of the same (very unwieldy) name, Propeller One-Way Night Coach marks the first time that Travolta has stepped behind the camera, which is quite the surprise given that his career has spanned 50+ years. Billed as a family adventure film and set in “the golden age of aviation” a.k.a. 1960s America, it stars Kelly Eviston-Quinnett and Clark Shotwell as mother and son duo Helen and Jeff, who embark on a cross-country journey of a lifetime. Recently divorced middle-aged mom Helen has decided to finally follow her dreams and pursue an acting career in Hollywood, which means her aviation-obsessed son Jeff gets to live out his dreams as he gets to fly for the first time, and not just in any old plane, but a sleek new Boeing jet. As their trip is filled with airline meals, flight attendants, unexpected stopovers, and larger-than-life passengers, the journey unfolds in moments both magical and unexpected, charting the course for the boy’s future.
The Testament of Ann Lee
3 June 2026 – Disney+
I must admit that prior to reading up the synopsis for this article, I only knew three things about The Testament of Ann Lee: 1) It’s written and directed by Mona Fastvold, the Oscar-nominated writer of The Brutalist; 2) the film got a very positive critical reception with star Amanda Seyfried’s “career best” performance earning her a Golden Globe nomination; and 3), Seyfried, by her own admission had to wear a “prosthetic butthole” for the movie. Ok then. If your thoughts had suddenly turned dirty with that last sentence, you’ll be happy to know though that it’s not that kind of movie. In fact, The Testament of Ann Lee is actually quite the grueling affair. A historical musical drama, it tells the real-life story of Ann Lee, the founding leader of the Shakers religious sect in the 18th century. Featuring more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns reimagined for cinema, this stylized retelling of Lee’s life delves into her teachings of gender and social equality and her quest to build a utopia for her followers, despite the numerous humiliations and tragedies she had to endure.
