What are our top five things to watch on Disney+ in May? Read on for our recommendations of what should keep you company while you’re cosy on the couch and/or under the covers. Enjoy.

Send Help (Film)

While Disney+ takes its time when it comes to the addition of animated movies and blockbusters to the platform, the streamer is typically quick to add movies targeted at adult audiences. Like survival thriller and black comedy Send Help, which was only in cinemas this January.

Director Sam Raimi is back in top form for this sharp and twisty tale about a frumpy, frustrated business strategist (Rachel McAdams) who finds herself stranded on a desert island with her arrogant boss (Dylan O’Brien). Suddenly the power dynamic is flipped on its head. Here’s our review.

Rental Family (Film)

Like we said, Disney+ is very good at swiftly adding content for grown-up viewers (often with little fanfare), like recent awards season contender Rental Family. In this Searchlight Pictures release, which was named one of the top 10 movies of 2025 by The National Board of Review, Brendan Fraser as an American actor based in Japan who, craving more meaningful work, accepts an unusual position at a “rental family agency.” He finds himself playing roles in the lives of real-life strangers, where it’s impossible to keep emotional distance. Expect this one to play with your heartstrings.

The Punisher: One Last Kill (TV Special)

Joining the ranks of Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is The Punisher: One Last Kill. This single 48-minute Marvel Television Special forms part of the MCU Phase 6, and sees former vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) trying to live peacefully until he’s drawn into an unexpected conflict with a rising criminal empire. Pretty much the quintessential on-screen Punisher at this point, Bernthal also helped drive this project creatively.

The Punisher: One Last Kill is scheduled to be released today, 12 May.

Tucci in Italy S2 (Documentary Series)

There are a lot of returning favourites this month to Disney+, like FX’s football docuseries Welcome to Wrexham Season 5 (from 15 May); raunchy Jilly Cooper adaptation Rivals S2 (15 May); and new Bluey minisodes for the family (20 May). Of the comeback kids, we’re most excited for National Geographic’s Tucci in Italy S2, which isn’t exactly new (the show dates back to 2021-2022), but still satisfies a craving.

The charming actor continues his food tour of Italy, resolute in his opinion that the best way to understand what makes a country unique is through its cuisine. Heading off the tourist beaten track, Tucci visits five new regions, including Le Marche, Campania, Veneto (where he wades into a tiramisu controversy) and the islands of Sardinia and Sicily.

Watch all 8 episodes from 15 May.

UEFA Women’s Champions League Final (Sports)

Look, normally we wouldn’t highlight sports, but this is kind of a big deal. With Disney+ streaming ESPN sports channels live since last year, subscribers will be able to watch the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final at the end of this month.

On 23 May, long-term rivals Barcelona and Lyon clash once more at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway. The winners will qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup semi-finals and the 2028 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
