Something for everyone to love. That seems to be the plan with the Disney+ release schedule in February, which delivers wild superhero action, big budget historical drama, and a new Afrofuturist animated series made in Africa. Below you’ll find our top three draw cards for the streamer in the coming month.

The Marvels (Film)

If you missed it on the big screen and evidently a lot of people did now’s your chance to watch the most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe entry The Marvels at home. You really shouldn’t miss out as The Marvels is a refreshingly wild ride that veers far from MCU formula, and packs in the laughs. Here’s our spoiler-free review. For the record, in The Marvels, Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) is forced to team up with S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and teenage superfan Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) to stop a destablising universe.

Watch The Marvels from 7 February.

Shōgun (Limited Series)

James Clavell’s best-selling novel enjoys its second small-screen adaptation in the form of FX’s historical drama Shōgun. It’s a case of political intrigue and culture clash in this fictionalised retelling of real-life events, where, in 1600, Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) is facing dissent from the Council of Regents, just as a European ship washes up on the shore of feudal Japan. In it is English sailor John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), who will have a front row seat to the start of a century-defining civil war.

The 10-episode Shōgun launches on 27 February with two episodes.

Iwájú (Animated Series)

From Kugali Media, Iwájú breaks new ground as a Disney+ Nigerian Original. In this CGI-animated coming-of-age story, Tola, a young girl from the wealthy island, and her best friend, Kole, a self-taught tech expert, discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their different worlds. Featuring an Afrofuturist aesthetic, and themes such as social class, and going against the status quo, Iwájú is set in a technologically advanced Lagos of tomorrow.

Iwájú arrives on Disney+ on 28 February.
