It’s a very quiet week on the streaming front with the only notable releases being Toy Story 5, Matthew McConaughey/Woody Harrelson meta-comedy series Brothers, and romantic drama The Love Hypothesis.

In case you didn’t know the real Hollywood lore, for years it’s been suspected that actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are actually half-brothers. There are bunch of personal details and odd coincidences that all line up to support this theory. And it remains just a theory as Matthew has declined to take a DNA test on the grounds that it may just show that the man he knew as his father his whole life is actually not his really father. If you ask me, that’s an admirable reason to be hesitant. It’s apparently also an idea for a TV pitch. Enter Brothers, a brand-new Apple TV comedy series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as fictionalized versions of themselves who make the wild discovery that they are actually brothers, leading all sorts of familial chaos for both of them! Somehow, I feel like “art imitating life” doesn’t quite cover this one.

Toy Story 5
23 September 2026 – Disney+
The toys are back and this time they face their most daunting challenge yet: Modern technology! Billion-dollar box office behemoth Toy Story 5 sees the on-screen reunion of Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and Woody (Tom Hanks), following Woody’s decision to leave the group to help other toys at the end of 2019’s Toy Story 4. But celebrations for the gang getting back together are short lived, when Bonnie, the young owner of the toys, gets a new high-tech gadget in the form of Lilypad (Greta Lee), a fancy tablet device that makes the toys look obsolete. As Lilypad disrupts all the normal routines with Bonnie, the toys are left wondering if playtime will ever be the same again.
The Love Hypothesis

Adapted from Ali Hazelwood’s New York Times best-selling novel, The Love Hypothesis is a new romance movie all about the science of the heart… or the explosive results passionate experiments run awry. Lili Reinhart stars as Olive, a brilliant Ph.D. candidate firmly focused on her future in academia except for the one distraction of her longtime crush Jeremy (Nicholas Duvernay). However, when Olive realizes that her best friend Ann (Rachel Marsh) has fallen for Jeremy, she impulsively kisses intimidating professor Adam (Tom Bateman) just to prove that Jeremy means nothing to her any longer and Ann is free to pursue her feelings. Luckily for Olive, Adam is willing to keep up the ruse for Ann’s sake, as long as they stick to the rigid rules and guidelines about their fake fling. When their arrangement begins to blur the lines between performance and reality, Olive is forced to test her most daunting hypothesis yet: that love might actually be worth the risk.
