Disney+ is all about Hallowstream in October, and while last year’s Hellraiser has yet to debut on the service internationally, boy, are there plenty of other holiday-appropriate options for the whole family this month. Oh, and Loki is back too for more multiversal misadventures.

Haunted Mansion (Film)

Missed Haunted Mansion on the big screen back in July? Now’s your chance to watch it at home. We didn’t have high expectations when we watched this dark family adventure – the second based on the Disney theme park ride – but we found a fun outing with great effects and surprising emotional authenticity.

For the record, Haunted Mansion sees single mom Gabbie (Rosario Dawson), purchase a New Orleans manor, and recruit spiritual experts (LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito) to help rid the house of its supernatural squatters. Watch Haunted Mansion from 4 October.

Loki S2 (Series)

Loki makes history as the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series to earn itself a second season. The new series picks up in the aftermath of Season 1’s shocking finale, with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority, alongside Mobius (Owen Wilson), Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), and new and returning characters. Key to their mission will be searching the fracturing multiverse for Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), and Miss Minutes.

Enjoy weekly episode drops of Loki S2 from 6 October. There will be six episodes in total.

Goosebumps (Series)

Goosebumps is back, baby! Inspired by R.L. Stine’s bestselling book series (which has already spawned a beloved 90s TV series, two movies and other media), Goosebumps follows a group of five high schoolers who are drawn into investigating the death three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle, which has a connection to their parents. Justin Long is the most familiar face of the adult cast.

Goosebumps comes to Disney+ appropriately on Friday the 13th, with a five-episode drop. After that, the remaining five episodes will release weekly.

Appendage (Film)

Also coming to Disney+ in October on the horror movie front is The Boogeyman (watch from 11 October), but we’re more intrigued by Appendage. Little Women and Winning Time’s Hadley Robinson stars as Hannah, a young fashion designer secretly struggling with debilitating self-doubt. Soon these buried feelings begin to manifest on her body, and threaten to upend her life, but it turns out she’s not alone.

Watch Appendage on Disney+ in South Africa from 18 October.
