Its a tale of two Must Watch movies at South African cinemas this week, at least as far as we’re concerned. Two of our most highly anticipated films of the year release tomorrow, and you can learn more about them below.

Joining them, meanwhile, are Bollywood comedy Udta Teer, while K-Pop fans should be ecstatic as HYBE CINE FEST 2026 runs 24 – 31 October at both Ster Kinekor and Nu Metro. The festival brings concert performances of the likes of BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, and more, to local screens.

Following The Joker and Penguin, another Batman villain takes centre stage on screen with Clayface, from DC Studios. In this body horror-psychological thriller, dashing actor and rising star Matt Hagen (Tom Rhys Harries) has his career destroyed when he’s horrifically disfigured by a mob boss. With nothing left, Matt seeks out a cutting edge treatment from Naomi Ackie’s scientist, but the apparently miraculous results have a side effect: he’s transforming into living clay, and losing his grip on reality. Clayface is considered part of the mainline new DCU, and is co-scripted by Mike Flanagan, with See No Evil’s James Watkins directing.

Reportedly 16 years in the making, Wildwood is stop-motion studio LAIKA’s most ambitious project to date. In this animated fantasy adventure, based on the book by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis, Prue McKeel (voiced by Peyton Elizabeth Lee) and her classmate Curtis Mehlberg (Jacob Tremblay) are drawn into a hidden magical forest on the outskirts of Portland after Pru’s infant brother Mac is abducted by crows. The pair find themselves in a fantastical world filled with mythical creatures, warring factions and a grieving mother. Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee and Masters of the Universe’s Travis Knight directs, while the voice cast includes the likes of Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Charlie Day, Jemaine Clement and many more.
