This week’s streaming releases see the hotly anticipated return of Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again, the feature film continuation of Peaky Blinders, the VOD debut of Ari Aster’s critically acclaimed neo-Western thriller Eddington, and much more!
SERIES
Deadloch S2
20 March 2026 – Prime Video
An unexpected critical smash hit when it debuted in 2023, Australian black comedy crime mystery series Deadloch returns – unsurprisingly – for a second season. The first season saw sleepy fictional Tasmanian town of Deadloch rocked by the discovery of a murdered man, forcing local police detectives Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) and Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami) to solve a case far beyond their usual criminal fare. This time around, the duo find themselves in neighbouring Darwin to investigate the death of Eddie’s former police partner only to have their case derailed by wild public commotion following the discovery of seemingly unrelated body parts remote town Barra Creek that could belong to some missing backpackers. “Sticky, sweaty and juggling comprehensive thrush infections, the detectives find themselves embroiled in a world of crocodile-fueled tourism, overstretched Indigenous rangers, cagey locals, and seven-metre prehistoric predators – all of whom call Barra Creek’s stretch of land, and water, their home”.
Lucky Luke S1
24 March 2026 – Disney+
I’m not even going to try and sugarcoat it. This French-language live-action adaptation of Lucky Luke, the classic 1940s Belgian comic strip turned beloved 1980s cartoon, does not look great. But it’s a live-action adaptation of Lucky Luke, so you better believe I will watch it! Jean Dujardin, who won a historic Best Actor Oscar for 2011’s The Artist, plays the titular Luke, a street-smart gunslinger who “shoots faster than his own shadow”. The eight-episode series was a Disney+ and France Télévisions co-production and is billed to be filled with “Duels, chases, and explosive encounters with the Daltons, Billy the Kid, and Calamity Jane!”.
Daredevil: Born Again S2
24 March 2026 – Disney+
The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is back! Again! After a triumphant official reentry into the MCU with last year’s franchise revival, the second season of Daredevil: Born Again kicks off next week. Season one picked up with Charlie Cox’s blind lawyer Matt Murdock having given up being superpowered vigilante persona following the death of a close friend. But as threats both new and familiar – like Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin – emerged, it forced Matt to whip out the red leathers and billy clubs once more. With Kingpin becoming Mayor of New York and declaring martial law, creating a special task force to hunt down vigilantes, season two will find Matt on the run in need of help. And luckily he will get some in the form of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, the surly superpowered private eye who is now also making the transition from the defunct Netflix Defenders series to the MCU proper. We also get more Punisher, more Karen Page, a whole lot more broken bones and busted faces, and (this one is for the comic fans) an all-new black suit.
Bait
25 March 2026 – Prime Video
With the release of Dune: Part 3 later this year, director Denis Villeneuve will then be able to focus all his attention on his next major project of rebooting the James Bond franchise. And with that, comes the daunting task of finding a new actor to play cinema’s most famous spy, a role that will completely change the life of whoever gets it. Or even just somebody rumoured to get it. That’s the premise for Bait, a new six-episode comedy series created by and starring Riz Ahmed. The Oscar and Emmy Award-winning actor stars as Shah Latif, a struggling British actor of Pakistani descent who has never managed to even come close to achieving his thespian dream. However, his last chance to hit it big comes in the form of an audition of a lifetime to play none other than James Bond. Set over the course of four wild days, we follow Shah as just the possibility of this once-in-a-lifetime role sees his own life, and the lives of his family and loved ones, spiral out of control as seemingly the entire world weighs in on whether he is the right man for the job.
Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole S1
26 March 2026 – Netflix
2017’s The Snowman was, to put it bluntly, a really bad movie. Not even the undeniable talents of Michael Fassbender and Rebecca Ferguson could save a film doomed with a troubled Hollywood production from being anything other than a consummate mess. Why this was especially disappointing because this film was supposed to be the major live-action screen debut of Harry Hole, author Jo Nesbo’s widely beloved literary character who has appeared in 13 of the best-selling Norwegian author’s novels since his debut in 1997. But now Nesbo is taking matters into his own hands, adapting his fifth novel The Devil’s Star for new nine-episode mystery-drama series Detective Hole. Tobias Santelmann (Kon-Tiki, The Last Kingdom) will play the titular troubled Oslo police detective, who must find and bring to justice a horrific serial killer plaguing the city, all while engaged in a feud with his ruthless and corrupt fellow police officer Tom Waaler, played by Joel Kinnamann (Altered Carbon, For All Mankind).
MOVIES
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man
20 March 2026 – Netflix
Everybody’s favourite British gangster is back, because not even a war can hold a Peaky Blinder down! Set against the backdrop of WWII in 1940s Birmingham, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is a feature-length film continuation of creator Steven Knight’s much-beloved historical crime drama, and sees Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy return as Tommy Shelby, the once-great leader of the titular British gang. Driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Sophie Rundle, Barry Keoghan, and Stephen Graham round out the star-studded cast.
The Bad Guys 2
20 March 2026 – Showmax
I never paid much attention to the release of The Bad Guys, a 2022 Dreamworks Animation effort that was seemingly solid but not a grand commercial success. One day I happened to randomly see it playing on TV and remembered that it was actually well liked by critics and decided to watch it. And damn, if it wasn’t an absolute blast! So, of course when The Bad Guys 2 released in cinemas last year, I… well, I actually missed it. How embarrassing. If you’re an idiot like me, no worries though as you can now watch the sequel at home! The Bad Guys 2 brings back the crew of Mr. Wolf (Sam Rockwell), Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina), Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson), and Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos), a group of infamous criminals who in the first film pretended to have been reformed after being caught, only to genuinely find themselves wanting to do good instead of a life a crime. In the sequel though, the group had found themselves struggling to fit into society again given their checkered pasts. When one of them gets framed for a crime they didn’t commit, it starts a series of madcap events that will see the gang have to team up with an all-female criminal squad (voiced by Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, and Maria Bakalova) to perform one last heist before true retirement.
Hannah Montana – 20th Anniversary Special
24 March 2026 – Disney+
Hey, wanna feel old? Next Tuesday marks 20 years to the day that Miley Cyrus first debuted on-screen as Hannah Montana. The original Disney Channel series, which saw Cyrus ordinary teenage girl Miley Steward who secretly led a double life as global pop sensation Hannah Montana, was a cultural phenomenon in the early 2000s. And to the surprise of nobody, it also launched Cyrus’ real-world career as a multiple award-winning pop star (including three Grammies, two Billboard Music Awards, and eight Guinness World Records). And now, two decades later, Cyrus is reuniting with several old cast mates and friends for this feature-length special, described as “a love letter to fans, filled with heartfelt nostalgia”. Along with in-depth interviews, fans will get a behind-the-scenes look at Miley’s archival collection, familiar faces and surprise guests, and even a special musical performance.
Pretty Lethal
26 March 2026 – Prime Video
Forget all the pretty frilly dresses and costumes, ballet is tough. It takes a special kind of person to overcome the intense physical hardships and brutal personal feuds to become an elite ballerina. In Pretty Lethal, five ballerinas will find themselves facing the toughest – and deadliest – challenge of their lives. A rollicking and action-packed thriller, Pretty Lethal follows a dysfunctional ballet troupe on their way to a prestigious dance competition in Eastern Europe, who are forced to take shelter in a remote villa when their bus breaks down. When a gang of armed men attack them though, the young dancers are forced to put aside their bickering and fight their way to freedom, one bloody pirouette at a time. Vicky Jewson (The Witcher: Blood Origin) directs while Maddie Ziegler, Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, Millicent Simmonds, Avantika, and Uma Thurman star.
RENTALS/PURCHASES

Eddington
Purchase: Apple TV – R150
Rental: Apple TV – R45
2020. The year the world fell apart. As if all the death and sickness wrought by the COVID pandemic wasn’t devastating enough, the various lockdown protocols put in place, and the pushback against them by some people, would see neighbour pitted against neighbour as social politics became just as much of a flashpoint as social distancing. And it’s in this tumultuous period that writer/director Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) takes us to the fictional town of Eddington, New Mexico, where current-Mayor Ted Garcia (Pedro Pascal) find himself fighting tooth and nail with Sheriff Joe Cross (Joaquin Phoenix) in the electoral race to be the next mayor. But as the various COVID mandates are put in place, social and political tensions flare as things spiral wildly out of control in this satirical new-Western thriller. Eddington has received wide critical acclaim for Aster and his cast – which also includes Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone – and if you missed this one in cinemas last year, you can now finally watch it at home.
