As we enter the last week of February, streamers have put the emphasis on series. Over the coming days you can expect the return of some serious, and not so serious, fan favourites, like Paradise, Bridgerton and even, yes,16 years later, Scrubs.
SERIES
The Last Thing He Told Me S2
20 February – Apple TV+
Apple TV’s contribution for the week is a fresh eight-part season for mystery thriller, and novel adaptation, The Last Thing He Told Me, starring Jennifer Garner. Based on the forthcoming book sequel, Hannah’s search for her husband seems far behind her, until Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) shows up after five years. Can Hannah and stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) reunite their family before the past catches up to them?
Brakpan Chronicles
20 February – Showmax

Considerably less high stakes and serious (though sure to be full of surprises) is two-part documentary series Brakpan Chronicles. From the same South African team behind the headline-making Sex in Afrikaans and Tiek Tok Boem!, this new doccie delves into the truth behind the rough and tough town 30km east of Johannesburg, that has long been mocked, memed and misunderstood as a white trash enclave. Not sure why the trailer has been pulled, so have a still image instead.
Paradise Season 2
23 February – Disney+
If you have any intention of watching the breakout political thriller from last year, stop reading now, because promotional materials for Season 2, which kicks off this week, aren’t hiding the show’s mega big twist. Secret Service Agent Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) sets out to search for his missing wife Teri, while back in the picture-perfect community of Paradise, the social fabric starts to deteriorate further. Paradise S2 launches with three episodes, and will consist of eight total.
Bridgerton: Season 4 Part 2
26 February – Netflix
Netflix split seasons can be agony. So Bridgerton fans are probably relieved that as of this week they can see how Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek’s (Yerin Ha) forbidden cross-class romance resolves itself in Season 4’s remaining four episodes. It’s been a month so if you need a plot reminder, rakeish Benedict is still unaware that the two women he’s fallen for – maid and masked Lady in Silver – are the same person. Is a happy ending possible that doesn’t mean sacrificing everything?
Scrubs
26 February – Disney+
Returning after a 16 year absence is wacky medical sitcom Scrubs. The premise of the revival has promise. With a fresh set of inept interns at Sacred Heart, Dr Cox (John C McGinley) calls on JD (Zach Braff) to accept a position at the hospital and whip them into shape. Of course, Turk (Donald Faison), Elliot (Sarah Chalke) and Carla (Judy Reyes) are around too. The new Scrubs (technically Season 10) launches with a two-episode premiere, and the season will consist of nine parts in total.
MOVIES
Companion
21 February – Showmax
Like Paradise, try to go into Companion as blind as possible for the twisty best time. Combining horror, social thriller, black comedy and even science fiction, Companion sees Yellowjackets and Heretic’s Sophie Thatcher once more hitting it out the park as Iris, a young woman whose reluctance to spend the weekend at a remote lake house with her boyfriend Josh (Jack Quaid) and his friends proves to be a fair assessment. Here’s our spoiler-free review.
The Bluff
25 February – Prime Video
Still on matters of treacherous men, there’s period actioner The Bluff, which comes with some notable names before and behind the camera. Priyanka Chopra Jonas stars as “Bloody Mary” Bodden, who is forced to protect her family on their remote island home in the 19th Century when figures from her violent past arrive seeking vengeance. Chief of these threats is pirate captain Connor (Karl Urban). The MCU’s Russo Brothers produce this hard R-rated movie.
