The VOD rental debut of Sydney Sweeney box office hit The Housemaid leads this week’s streaming releases, alongside star-studded thriller miniseries Imperfect Women, and the return of animated comic book adaptation Invincible.
SERIES
Imperfect Women S1
18 March 2026 – Apple TV
Apple TV may not churn out content as rapidly as its rivals, but when the streamer does drop something new, it’s almost always a very high-quality A-list production. Imperfect Women appears to follow suit. Adapted from Armanita Hall’s novel of the same name, this eight-episode limited series stars multiple award winners Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington, and Kate Mara as three women a decades-long friendship who see their close relationships suddenly shattered by a deadly crime that unearths long held secrets. If the trio leading this production wasn’t enough talent for you, the likes of Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll, Leslie Odom Jr., Sandrine Holt, Ana Ortiz, and Wilson Bethel round out the cast.
Invincible S4
18 March 2026 – Prime Video
I am woefully far behind in my viewing of Invincible, so I’m not even clicking play on that trailer above to avoid spoilers (which I know makes no sense, since I read all of Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley’s original comics years ago already, but just go with it!). That means you will also have to just make do with the official synopsis for Season 4: “While the world recovers from catastrophe, a changed Mark fights to protect his home and the people he loves, setting him on a collision course with a threat that could alter the fate of humanity forever.”
Ted S2
18 March 2026 – Showmax
Everybody’s favourite foul-mouthed teddy bear is back! A prequel to the Seth MacFarlane/Mark Wahlberg’s 2012 comedy film, the 1990s set series followed a 16-year-old John Bennet during his teenage years with Ted, the teddy bear John had wished to life as a young child. Season one was a smash hit when it debuted in 2024 and now season two picks up where that story left off, as John and Ted enter their senior year in high school, with more shenanigans on the way at school and at John’s blue collar home.
MOVIES
London Calling
16 March 2025 – Showmax
Action thriller London Calling follows Josh Duhamel as Tommy Ward, a mediocre hitman who accidentally killed a family member of London’s biggest crime lord. Laying low in Los Angeles to avoid repercussions, Tommy is forced to take an unconventional job from a local crime boss who has promised to square everything away back home: Take his awkward, softhearted son Julian along on a contract killing to toughen him up and make a man out of him! What could go wrong?! Despite the two big international cities mentioned up above, there’s actually a different city that may be the main drawcard for some of you reading this though: Cape Town. Yes, London Calling was actually shot right here in the Western Cape and so you can expect to see several local faces and locations pretending to be overseas.
RENTALS/PURCHASES
The following movies have recently become available for digital purchase/rental:
The Housemaid
Purchase: Apple TV – R150
Rental: Apple TV – R45
Director Paul Feig’s pivot from his usual lighthearted fare into steamy psychological thriller territory, The Housemaid was one of 2025’s biggest surprise hits. Grossing just shy of $400 million globally on just a $35 million budget, it has become the biggest film of star Sydney Sweeney’s career and a sequel has already been greenlit. The film sees Sweeney as a young woman with a troubled past, trying to get her life back together, who lands a job as a live-in maid for a wealthy young couple (Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar). But what initially seems like the perfect job soon turns dangerous as she discovers this family holds dark secrets. In her 8/10 review, Noelle said that “Elevated by strong performances, and twists that spin the film in enjoyably unpredictable directions, The Housemaid is a return to the glossy, sexy thrillers of previous eras. Its final act is a bit clunky as it must untangle itself with contrivances but it’s certainly emotionally satisfying.” If you missed it in cinemas, you can now rent The Housemaid at home.
