Surprisingly, Disney+ isn’t exactly overloading viewer with new streaming entertainment or mountains of Christmas stuff this festive season. Instead, it’s going the more tactical route, ensuring everyone has at least one thing to snare their interest. Here are our top picks for the last month of 2025.

The Roses (Film)

Ain’t nothing like the holidays to put pressure on families, and if those stresses are top of mind, you may be in the right headspace for dark comedy The Roses. A reimagining of the 1989 Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner-starrer The War of the Roses, itself based on the novel by Warren Adler, The Roses sees picture-perfect married couple Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo Rose (Benedict Cumberbatch) see their love give way to competition and resentment when they experience a switch in professional success. Here’s our The Roses review.

Watch The Roses from 3 December.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw (Animated Film)

The fourth film based on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series comes to Disney+ this month, with creator Jeff Kinney once more heavily involved in adaptation proceedings. In this animated comedy, Greg continually finds himself at odds with his dad’s outsized expectations. Events come to a head in the form of a wilderness camp, and the ultimate challenge to toughen up.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw starts streaming from 5 December.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 (Series)

Speaking of book adaptations and character-testing camps, Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on the beloved mythological adventures by Rick Riordan, returns on 10 December with a 2-episode launch. In this instalment, our teen hero embarks on an odyssey into the Sea of Monsters in search of his best friend Grover and the one thing that may save Camp Half-Blood — the Golden Fleece. Fortunately Percy has Annabeth, Clarisse and his newfound cyclops half-brother Tyson to help.

Episodes of the eight-part Season 2 drop weekly.

The End of an Era, & Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show (Music Documentary)

December is serving a special gift for the diehard Swifties out there. First, there’s six-part docuseries The End of an Era, which delves into the making of the global phenomenon that was Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. Then there’s Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show, which is a recording of the last show of the record-breaking tour (filmed at Vancouver). The difference from the previous The Eras Tour concert film? The Final Show includes the entire set of 2024’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT.

The End of an Era, and Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show both arrive on 12 December, with two episodes of The End of an Era releasing every week thereafter.

National Geographic’s The Devils Climb (Documentary Film)

With new year resolutions on the horizon, you may draw some inspiration from National Geographic special The Devils Climb. Renowned rock climbers and friends Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell attempt to accomplish the first-ever, single-day traverse of all five peaks of the infamous Devils Thumb massif in south-east Alaska, considered one of the most dangerous mountains in North America thanks to its combination of granite and ice.

Watch National Geographic’s The Devils Climb from 26 December.
