A trio of new movies make their cinema debut this Friday, in addition to a handful of more specialist big screen offerings in the coming week.
The latter includes Bollywood courtroom comedy Jolly LLB 3, two remastered BTS concert experiences (Live The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, THE WINGS TOUR THE FINAL), opera documentary Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe, and South African drama Carissa. That’s at Nu Metro, because Ster Kinekor has its own unique line-up, including the 60th Anniversary return of The Sound of Music (including IMAX), Daniel Craig’s second Bond outing Quantum of Solace as the week’s Throwback offering, and a recording of National Theatre Live adaptation Dr. Strangelove, starring Steve Coogan. Phew.
But now onto the wider releases below.
Mixing romance, drama and comedy is The Threesome. An impulsive night leads to a wild threesome between Olivia (Zoey Deutch), Connor (Jonah Hauer-King), and Jenny (Ruby Cruz). It’s a fantasy come true at the time, but in the aftermath the trio face sobering real-world consequences. They find themselves in a messy situation full of raw, unexpected feeling.
Josh Duhamel heads up action comedy London Calling. After fleeing the UK after a job goes wrong, a down on his luck hitman is forced to take refuge in Los Angeles. He’s offered safe passage back to Britain by his new crime boss employer (Rick Hoffman), but that comes with a price: teaching the mobster’s awkward son Julian (Jeremy Ray Taylor) how to become a man while he carries out a contract killing.
Finally, there’s animated adventure Chickenhare and the Secret of the Groundhog, coming out of Belgium. In the sequel to 2022’s Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness, the hybrid title character embarks on a quest to find a mysterious groundhog with the power to reverse time. This ability is needed to save Chickenhare’s species from extinction, but our hero and his friends aren’t alone in the search.
